General Policy

We have put considerable effort into establishing this website. In respect for that effort, we ask that you link to our pages instead of copying them or copying extensively from them. We have no objection to your making printed copies of our own work, provided that those copies are not edited out of context and that they include the URL of the page from which they were taken. However, we do not permit replicating our work on another internet site. We make linking particularly easy by embedding targets on each page for each passage. See "Linking to Passages." Copying documents we have republished requires not only our permission, but permission from the original authors. See Copyright Permission, below.

Fair Use

"Fair Use" allows copying excerpts, but does not allow copying that is extensive enough that the copy becomes a viable alternative to the original. Extensive copying into e-mails or onto other sites "for educational purposes" is unwarranted because such purposes would be fully served by posting a link to the original site.

Formatting Copyright

The formatting of documents on this website is copyrighted 2005 or later, even if the documents themselves have an earlier copyright or are in the public domain. We ask you to respect the effort that went into transcribing documents from paper to electronic format, and to link to our site rather than pasting our work onto your own site.

Content Copyright

All original text in this website is copyrighted 2005 or later. Documents posted on this site will have copyright dates for document content.

Copyright Permission

We can grant permission to copy our own material, but the permission we have to republish material by other authors is not transferrable. Where possible, we will put you in touch with the copyright holders. Inquire here for permission to copy material.
